This particular study looks at how you can improve even your hearing with brain training – and that is remarkable!
“Sensorimotor skills can be acquired and refined throughout adulthood. This form of implicit learning is thought to depend (at least in part) on structural, neurochemical, and functional changes in sensory and motor regions of the adult cortex that emerge with practice on reinforced sensory or motor tasks.”
In this study, the researchers recruited elderly patients with hearing loss and helped them train their brains in order to hear better.
It was done through a unique video game program.
“Elderly hearing-impaired subjects trained for 8 weeks on a CL (closed-loop) game that, like a musical instrument, challenged them to monitor subtle deviations between predicted and actual auditory feedback as they moved their fingertips through a virtual soundscape.”
And the results were astoundingly good.
Patients were able to identify 25% more words in conversations through the background noise, once they completed the training.
So, sometimes things that seem purely physical can actually have a huge brain-body connection.
This even applies to things that, from a traditional medical perspective, you wouldn’t expect to have that connection.
We find this all the time with guys who are dealing with sexual problems…

But there is a catch.
The only way this seems to work is through consistent practice over time.
