They say this 1 food is bad — but is it really?
If you listen to the medical establishment, you’ll probably be convinced that you should eat less salt.
But cutting back on sodium intake to recommended standards can be surprisingly harmful to your health.
I’ll delve into the research on this in a bit. It’s going to blow you away.
First though, I want to point out one category of food that IS high sodium that you probably should avoid.
That category is ultra-processed food.
But you shouldn’t avoid it because of the sodium.
You should avoid packaged, ultra-processed food because most of it contains nasty “food-like substances” and PUFA fats that are very bad for you.
What I’m about to tell you is controversial, but it’s also backed up by science.
A recent study published in Heart showed that when people prepared food from scratch…
…they did BETTER when they added salt vs. eliminating salt completely!
Compared with patients with cooking salt score 0, patients with cooking salt score >0 had significantly lower risks of the primary endpoint (HR=0.760, 95% CI 0.638 to 0.906, p=0.002) and HF hospitalization (HR=0.737, 95% CI 0.603 to 0.900, p=0.003), but not all-cause (HR=0.838, 95% CI 0.684 to 1.027, p=0.088) or cardiovascular death (HR=0.782, 95% CI 0.598 to 1.020, p=0.071).
Another study from 2016 shows that people who restricted their sodium…
…had a MUCH higher risk of all-cause mortality and hospitalization than those who didn’t restrict their sodium!
Sodium intake data were available for 833 subjects (145 sodium restricted, 688 sodium unrestricted), of whom 260 were propensity matched into sodium restricted (n = 130) and sodium unrestricted (n = 130) groups. Sodium restriction was associated with significantly higher risk of death or HF hospitalization (42.3% vs. 26.2%; hazard ratio [HR]: 1.85; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.21 to 2.84; p = 0.004), derived from an increase in the rate of HF hospitalization (32.3% vs. 20.0%; HR: 1.82; 95% CI: 1.11 to 2.96; p = 0.015) and a nonsignificant increase in the rate of cardiac death (HR: 1.62; 95% CI: 0.70 to 3.73; p = 0.257) and all-cause mortality (p = 0.074).
Similar results came in from yet another study.
It’s crazy how long we’ve known that low salt causes heart problems.
Unfortunately, most doctors are still recommending lower salt intakes!
Recent randomized controlled trial data has even suggested that sodium restriction may have detrimental effects in patients with heart failure.
The takeaway here is that if you are eating real food (not ultra-processed food that has other problems) and adding salt to taste…
…then you are likely going to have a lower risk for heart problems than if you are avoiding salt altogether.
I know this seems to go against the grain, but the research supports adding salt to your food to taste.
What I would add to this research is that it’s far more important to lower your intake of PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids) fats than to worry about salt.PUFA fats go rancid in your body and trigger inflammatory responses.
This can negatively affect your heart health and your metabolism, among other problems.
The research makes me believe that salt isn’t the boogeyman that the medical establishment makes it out to be.
I think that is great news, because salt makes everything taste better, and I personally really enjoy salt.
—-Important Message About Toxic PUFAs—-
This 45 second activity destroys PUFA toxins on contact
It can be difficult to avoid PUFAs — polyunsaturated fats like vegetable oil and sunflower oil…
I call them killer lipids because they’re so devastating for men’s health and performance.
They’re hiding in all kinds of foods and ingredients, and once they enter our bodies, the toxic poisons leak out.
Fortunately, I’ve found a way to destroy these killer lipids in the body.
So that no matter what I eat, I can be sure to destroy these awful toxic additives BEFORE they enter my bloodstream and travel all around my body…
…polluting my kidneys, my gut, my heart, even my penis…
I call it the Kraepelin method and it destroys the killer lipids on contact.
And it only takes 45 seconds to perform.
