Corn oil, soy oil, canola oil, and other vegetable oils that are liquid at room temperature…
They are honestly one of the biggest scams perpetrated on the public that I have ever seen.
Big Agriculture has used questionable science and big money to influence Big Government to tell us to eat these oils because they are “healthier” for us.
All of these oils fall into a category called polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). You may have heard of them.
They are supposed to be especially good for your brain, your heart, and other parts your body as well.

But it turns out that a lot of what scientists thought about PUFAs is dead wrong.
For instance, scientists thought that the fat content of our brains was mostly PUFAs.
Your brain is not made of what they thought it was made of.
We have made a lot of progress in understanding the human brain, but there’s still a lot we need to learn.
And apparently one of those things is how the basic building blocks of the human brain actually work.
Scientists used to believe that the brain needed a lot of PUFAs to perform at its optimal level.
And we believed that consuming PUFAs was important to support that function.
But it turns out that isn’t true.
“It has long been a belief in the scientific field that the building blocks of brain cells, phospholipids, are enriched by polyunsaturated fatty acids.”
The brain actually contains FAR LESS PUFAs than other major organs…
And here we all are, cooking with PUFAs and popping fish oil pills in the name of brain support.
“We found the opposite of what science has widely believed – phospholipids containing polyunsaturated fatty acids in the brain are lower than other major organs…”
This is interesting because it means that one of the main reasons we’ve been given for eating these PUFAs is bunk.
In fact, PUFAs are highly inflammatory to the human body.
Of course, I’ve been writing about this topic for quite a long time, because I dig into the science and research constantly.
And I saw the research as it was being developed.
PUFAs contribute to all kinds of nasty diseases – because PUFAs cause inflammation.
Scientists are just starting to figure this out – and they’re starting to question things they thought they knew.
This is good…
“Knowing that there are lower amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the brain, we may need to rethink how this acid impacts brain health.”
And that brings us back to the big fat corn oil lie.
I hate to use the word conspiracy, but that’s what it feels like.
The government and Big Agriculture are telling us to eat these oils instead of things like butter and cow fat (that humans have been eating for millennia) because are they are supposedly healthy…
This feels like a conspiracy to me.
Maybe they were well-meaning when it started…
But ultimately it’s been really bad for our health to eat this type of oil all the time.
In places like France, with a huge amount of butter consumption per capita, there are lower rates of heart disease than in the US…
In North America, we have replaced much of our butter consumption with PUFAs.
Bottom line…eat butter or coconut oil.
They taste better.
They are WAY better for you than soy oil, corn oil, canola oil, and vegetable oil.
Just don’t eat too much. Fat is still fat, and not good for you in huge quantities.
PUFAs are bad for your health.
They don’t support the brain like scientists thought they did, and the evidence is mounting all the time that they cause major inflammation.
