The gut is the sewer of the body. So the body needs to make sure that stuff IN the gut (raw sewage) doesn’t leak out into the rest of the body.
When stuff leaks out of the gut, this creates many different diseases. It causes every cell in the body to become inflamed, and may be responsible for diseases ranging from diabetes to Alzheimer’s.
So anything that fixes a leaky gut is of great interest
There is a single layer of cells which is often called the “brush border”, as if it is a hedge of bushes that are supposed to protect things that are inside your gut, so they don’t leak out into your body.
In many if not most men and women, the brush border gets inflamed.
When the gut is inflamed this way, toxic contents of the gut including bacteria, viruses, yeast, and food toxins leak out of the gut and into the body.
Eventually this all falls on the liver
The liver has the main job of cleaning up what leaks out of the gut. Scientists call the gut materials endotoxin’s when they leak out into the body.
So the liver has to clean up the endotoxins.
However, in many if not most of the men and women today, the liver is diseased itself. Most people have what is called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. So their liver isn’t operating that well. And now, the kidneys have to deal with these endotoxins
This causes early-stage kidney disease. And while the liver can easily heal itself, the kidneys can’t. Kidneys don’t have the regenerative capacity that the liver has.
However, a great study here shows that something as simple as activated charcoal can assist the kidneys and healing, and can protect the entire body against endotoxins leaking out of the gut.
This activated charcoal idea can help anybody; you don’t need kidney disease.
The study shows that the activated charcoal
attenuated …disruption of [the brush border] and the associated endotoxemia, oxidative stress and inflammation.
Here’s why activated charcoal works
When the body gets rid of endotoxins, what it does is puts them into the liver bile. The liver bile feeds into the gut, so that you can excrete out the endotoxins.
The trouble is that these endotoxins are making a round robin back into your body. The livers takes him up, the liver puts them in the bile that goes in the gut, and now the bile has these endotoxins which can easily go through the brush border and reenter the body.
Activated charcoal stops this round Robin of endotoxins reentering your body
The activated charcoal binds the endotoxins and contains them, not letting them go. Then you excrete the activated charcoal and neurotoxins, when you have a bowel movement.
One warning about activated charcoal is that it will also soak up nutrients and minerals that you want to have enter your body. It’s like a sponge that will take up all kinds of things, not just endotoxins. So you may not want to take it every day, because you could suffer a series of nutritional deficiencies if you do.
But maybe once or twice a week might be super helpful. You can buy this either in capsules on Amazon, or you can buy it as a powder.
Some people travel with activated charcoal in their purse or luggage. And take it when they get stomach issues. Other people take it every few days.
And it even may increase your lifespan
Taking activated charcoal help reduce tumors in mice, and it let the mice live about 15% longer than mice who didn’t get the activated charcoal.
There was a 1.4 times reduction of the mean number of tumors per mouse. Feeding mice with the adsorbent led to a 4 months longer life-span in animals with any tumors and to a 5 months longer life-span in animals bearing malignant tumors
I only take it when I need it. But when I need it, I’m happy it’s there. Discuss taking it with your doctor, it may really help you.
