‘Harmless’ dental practice doubles the risk of cancer

Ionizing radiation of the kind produced by x-ray machines can have detrimental effects on health – we’ve known this for decades.

But if you speak to many doctors and dentists they can be quite dismissive about the risks of x-rays they may wish to perform.

Many doctors and dentists have always claimed that the amount of radiation used in medical x-rays is not enough to increase the risk of cancer.

Time and again, studies have shown that this is not the case.

Dental x-rays seem to significantly increase the risk of thyroid cancer – and there is a dose-response – meaning more x-rays and more radiation lead to a greater risk of cancer.

The human research was carried out at Brighton and Sussex Medical School in the UK. The paper was published in Acta Oncology.

Thyroid cancer is not the most common cancer but it’s not exactly rare either…

…and radiation of the type that is emitted by x-rays is the only accepted cause of this type of cancer.

“The thyroid gland is highly susceptible to radiation carcinogenesis and exposure to high-dose ionizing radiation is the only established cause of thyroid cancer.”

It’s very common for dentists and their customers to completely dismiss the risks of dental x-rays.

They believe that the amount of radiation is too low to cause any harm.

“Dental radiography, a common source of low-dose diagnostic radiation exposure in the general population, is often overlooked as a radiation hazard to the gland and may be associated with the risk of thyroid cancer.”

But it’s long been known that people who are exposed to these types of x-rays have an increased risk of various types of cancers.

“An increased risk of thyroid cancer has been reported in dentists, dental assistants, and x-ray workers; and exposure to dental x-rays has been associated with an increased risk of meningiomas and salivary tumors.”

So these researchers decided to carry out some analysis – to crunch the numbers and see how things played out.

They recruited over 300 people who had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

They recruited a similar number of people of similar age and with similar characteristics, but who had not been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

“We conducted a population-based case-control interview study in 313 patients with thyroid cancer and a similar number of individually matched control subjects.”

The researchers collected information on previous dental x-rays.

They wanted to see if there was any difference in the likelihood of people with thyroid cancer having had dental x-rays in the past.

The researchers found that having had a dental x-ray seemed to more than double the risk of developing thyroid cancer.

“Exposure to dental x-rays was significantly associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer (odds ratio = 2.1).”

Reinforcing the finding, the researchers found that the more dental x-rays and somebody had, the greater the increase in thyroid cancer risk.

“We found a dose-response pattern.”

They were not able to point out any other factors which may play a role in this relationship.

“The association did not vary appreciably by age, gender, nationality, level of education, or parity.”

It’s very, very likely that dental x-rays do increase the likelihood of thyroid cancer and that the risk increases with every dose of x-ray.

“These findings provide support to the hypothesis that exposure to dental x-rays may be associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer; and warrant further study in settings where historical dental x-ray records may be available.”

You should always consult your healthcare practitioner for guidance on medical diagnosis and treatment.

Many men are suffering from low blood flow down there due to penile fibrosis — scar tissue that forms and blocks up the arteries.

Luckily, this weird toothbrush technique reduces fibrosis…it dissolves any plaque, scarring, and blockage in the penile chambers…

…leaving clean and sensitive nerve endings that feel every touch again.

Even if you haven’t had good erections in a while, you may be able to restore the health of your member and make it fatter, bigger, and work better.

Imagine cleaning the gunk off your gutters or the garage floor with a high-powered water jet.

Here’s a natural and easy way to “deep cleanse” fibrosis and restore great rockiness…even increase in size
