Are You Sleeping TOO Much? Shocking New Sleep Study…
“If you snooze, you lose.”
“Burn the candle at both ends.”
“Let’s pull an all-nighter.”
I don’t know what it’s like where you live… But here in America, we seem to worship getting by on as little sleep as possible.
Unfortunately, getting too little sleep on a regular basis sets our bodies up for major health problems.
And these health problems can lead to ED and other sexual problems for men.
But, weirdly, too much sleep seems to have a similar effect.
Most people do best in what I like to call the “Goldilocks Zone” of sleep – not too much and not too little, but an amount that is just right.
The right amount of sleep…
Sleep has incredibly restorative effects on the body.
But this study shows that too much sleep can be just as damaging as not enough.
It seems like the “right amount” of sleep is between 7 and 9 hours a day for most people.
More or less than that causes major health issues…
And it often leads to sexual dysfunction in men.

“Fewer than six and more than ten hours of sleep per day are associated with metabolic syndrome and its individual components.”
What is metabolic syndrome?
According to the Mayo Clinic:
“Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions: increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels – that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Metabolic syndrome is a fancy way of saying that your body is in bad shape…
It also means that you have a group of symptoms that can cascade into serious health conditions.
How does metabolic syndrome relate to sexual function?
You know what? The circumference of your waist and your ability/inability to get an erection are directly related.
The more belly fat a guy carries the more likely he is to have ED.
And that also means that if you don’t sleep enough, you’re much more likely to end up with ED (and other sexual health issues).
“Men who slept fewer than six hours were more likely to have metabolic syndrome and higher waist circumference.”
The crazy part is that about 1 in 10 men don’t get at least 6 hours of sleep a night…
And whether they know it or not, they are likely setting themselves up for sexual problems.
And while it’s way less common (occurring in only 1.5% of men), sleeping over 10 hours a night on a regular basis can have the EXACT same negative effect.
“Sleeping more than ten hours per day was associated with metabolic syndrome and increased levels of triglycerides in men – and with metabolic syndrome, higher waist circumference, higher levels of triglycerides and blood sugar.”
Scientists don’t really have a good understanding of why this happens with too much sleep… But they do have a good idea of why it happens with too little sleep.
“This seems to happen because of elevated levels of hormones which increase appetite and caloric intake or reduce energy expenditure in people who sleep less than seven hours per day, which may lead to increased waist circumference and development of obesity.”
Sleep dysregulation affects your hormones. And that screws up your body’s ability to regulate your appetite.
What can you do if you have metabolic syndrome?
This may seem obvious, but getting enough quality sleep can really help a lot.
If you’re not sleeping well right now, try sleeping in a recliner.
Sometimes that can help a whole lot.
The other thing you can do is start getting your hormones regulated.
Testosterone is an EXTREMELY important hormone for men.
And for most guys, testosterone is way out of whack.
This article is too short to go into all the details about how to fix testosterone right now, but most guys can fix their testosterone without injections or creams.
(We have more information about this on this website and in our newsletters.)
When your body gets caught up in metabolic syndrome, it’s important to correct it as quickly as possible.
Otherwise, you can end up with seriously negative cascading health effects.
And they won’t just give you a big tummy – they can impact your sexual performance.
